After muchos chilli and bubbles and a solid 7 hours (no joke) of catch up chats on Friday night (it had been a while!), my belated birthday surprise from the girls on Saturday morning was a blissful knicker party at Flo-jo Boutique! Lovely crafty ladies Dee and Erika, goregous tea and cake, and of course some fabulous hand-made-by-us pants (ooh and more bubbles to celebrate the Donning of The Knickers!) Oh and never have a used the word 'gusset' so liberally! consider yourself warned! ;) I urge you to book a party if you're in Bristol, it's fab. And if you can't make it to Bristol, they sell a wicked knicker making kit to try at home instead - perfect Sunday afternoon crafting :) |
Meanwhile, the studio is slowly slowly s-l-o-w-l-y coming together. This week I started on the furniture:
The desk is a fab shape (the legs are shelves!! why haven't I thought of this before?!) but in pretty bad nick on the right side, whilst the wrong side obviously isn't waterproof, so I'm overhauling it with some super geometric wallpaper from Ikea, which I'll varnish a la decoupage later this week. It's not perfect but I love it, and for a first attempt at wallpapering it's not bad! |
I was so pleased with the result that I'm going to use the colours (or some of them anyway!) to paint this sideboard - love the shape and carving, very much less keen on the dark, dark wood! So, it's sugar soaped to get off all the varnish and ready for sanding to give the surface a key for the primer to stick to...I know it looks worse now but trust me, it's going to be worth it! [Wish me luck!]
